Urgent: Assist Israel Today!

Urgent: Assist Israel Today!

December 2010

Dear Friend,

This is not the normal letter you receive each month, but the crisis is urgent. Please don’t set this urgent appeal aside.

Israel just experienced the worst forest fire in its history. You may have seen reports on the news. Many have called me and written, to ask how you could help. Thank you.

Reports cross my desk from our workers on the ground in Israel and the government contacts we have in Israel. The devastation is staggering:

Confirmed Dead: 42
Displaced People: 30,000
Destroyed Trees: 5,000,000

The horrific fire broke out along the Carmel mountain ridge overlooking northern Israel’s Haifa, local media reported. Israeli Ambassador, Rami Levi, requested I make an urgent appeal to our partners to respond in an unprecedented manner.

Through Way of Peace Ministries in Israel, you have two options to help Israel in this their time of need. Jesus said, “inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

1. Plant a tree in Israel: over 5,000,000 trees have been destroyed.

Israel is situated in a dry arid part of the earth. South of Lebanon, west of Syria and North of Egypt, Israel’s natural habitat is desert. However, through the support of believers throughout the years, much of Israel has been revitalized into a rich, livable land. Trees properly irrigated, change the make up of the soil over time. Farmers are able to plant crops, and sustain an entire country with food.

For this reason, trees are of immense importance to Israel. They represent livable land, which otherwise would not be.

Today, for a gift of $30 to Way of Peace, you can plant a tree in Israel. Way of Peace has partnered with Grace TV and the Land of Promise Foundation in Israel. You will also receive a personalized certificate in your name, or the name of a loved one you choose. Together we will rebuild the habitat of Israel and provide life to the nation.

See the enclosed response form to plant your tree.

2. Give an extra gift to our Way of Peace Gospel workers in Israel.

Friend, thank you for your support of the Gospel work in Israel. The Gospel is of supreme importance. However, at this time of physical need in Israel, would you also consider helping our workers bless Israel in this physical manner?

Our workers on the ground care for the displaced and hurting families. Pastor Najeeb and Elizabeth, whom Way of Peace supports, live in Haifa next to Mt Carmel where the fire took place. They described how the smell of fire saturated their home, and sirens rang throughout the days and nights.

The government of Israel sent out an alert to its citizens in an effort to garner humanitarian support. Pastor Najeeb and Elizabeth quickly gathered their church and prepared food for both the fire fighters and the displaced families.

Here are some pictures of their church workers in action.

Friend, this is one example. Other workers you support are too busy to even send reports of their efforts. However, I wanted to let you know of this opportunity quickly. Reports will continue to come.

You can respond today, and bless Israel at this time of need. Send an extra gift of $100 or more to help our Gospel workers in Israel assist the restoration process.

Please see the enclosed response form for your giving options.

Thank you for doing your best today.

Blessings in Christ
